Although it may seem self-evident, the aim of behavioral assessment is to seek documentation on the occurrence of behaviors. More recently, behavioral assessment has expanded to include cognitions as a form of behavior (Kamphaus and Frick, 2005). It is worth noting, however, that with a behavioral approach, interpretation of these behaviors is usually not made in relation to deep-seated psychodynamic processes, nor is the goal to uncover long-standing dimensions of personality or character (Thorpe et al., 2003). Instead, responses or observations are viewed simply as reports on samples of behaviors that have or have not transpired.
