In this chapter, we explore diversity in the context of lifelong learning, with a focus on learning as an ongoing process throughout one's life in formal and informal environments, and an investigation of how diversity learning can be effectively integrated into formal education and training. We begin by defining diversity from an interdisciplinary perspective in order to explain its multifaceted nature. Next, we briefly discuss attempts to reduce discriminatory practices through formal legislation.
