Educational psychology in England and Wales

In England and Wales, the term educational psychologist is used to denote psychologists who are predominantly employed by local education authorities. Therefore, in this chapter, the term educational psychologist will be used. Furthermore, only trivial differences exist between educational psychologist services in England and Wales. Thus, unless otherwise indicated, this chapter does not distinguish between them. Finally, some figures refer to all countries that compose the United Kingdom, including Scotland. This is because separate figures for England and Wales were not available. Figures from the United Kingdom are quoted when there is no reason to believe that they are different from those of England and Wales.
