This chapter attempts to address some of the issues surrounding the processes of leveraging technology and the international classroom to support student learning in the globalized educational environment of the 21st century teaching and learning. Innovation in teaching toward global awareness and inter-cultural competence (see Chapter 16, this volume, and Deardorff, 2009, for further discussion of these concepts) tracks to a large extent with innovation in other areas of the curriculum.
