For many people the debate over terminology and definitions is uninteresting, unimportant, unnecessary and/or impossible to agree upon. Therefore, they argue, why bother? There are a number of reasons to pursue such a debate (Mieczkowski, 1990). First, any field that aspires to be scholarly must develop strict criteria that are generally accepted in order that communication between all interested parties can go on.
