We commence this chapter with an assertion: that any sensible discussion of accommodation management in the hospitality sector could usefully benefit from an understanding of developments in a parallel field, namely that of facilities management. Yet, on the hospitality side at least, the area of facilities management is not well understood and the connections between the two subject areas are by no means explicit, either at the theoretical or practical level.
