The Changing Face of Citizenship Education in Pakistan
One of the most important goals of education is the preparation of young people for their role as citizens. This chapter examines the discourse on citizenship and citizenship education in Pakistan within the wider social, political, cultural and educational context. It shows how the changing socio-political context has given rise to different conceptions of citizenship and citizenship education and argues for a citizenship education programme that will help realize the vision of creating a democratic society.
