There is an increasing need for administrators and counseling service providers at institutions of higher education to address the unique concerns facing the growing population of international students in the United States. According to the annual report in Open Doors, by the Institute of International Education (2001), 547,867 international students were enrolled in colleges and universities in the United States for the 2000/2001 academic year.
