The Handbook for Child Protection Protection Practice presents a comprehensive and critical portrait of the phenomenon of neglect. Preventive pediatric and dental care for children and youth is the keystone of efforts to ensure their health and well-being. By ensure that such preventive care is received, problems can be detected early and thus dealt with more effectively and efficiently. The maintenance of an accurate record of a child's well child care, in addition to illnesses, such as in a medical passport, helps ensure that maltreated children receive appropriate care. The ability of children to reach adulthood healthy and prepared for the world they will face depends on such efforts.
