Air filters and scrubbers play an important role in health and safety control in new industries. If dust or other hazardous particulate matter generated by industries is released and diffused in the air, it can easily travel to different parts of the building and colonize on walls, ducts, clothing, or furniture and contaminate clean areas. If released externally (e.g., via a smokestack) they can travel to distant geographic regions, spreading air pollution far from the original source.
