The four pillars of the Green Party, shared by almost all the world's green parties (approximately 90 worldwide), are Ecology, Social Justice, Nonviolence, and Grassroots Democracy. The principles endorsed go deeper than a mere superficial change in policy, suggesting a qualitative shift in ethical norms, cultural practices, and prevalent paradigms, and a structural change in politics/democracy/governance and economic organization.


Ecology or ecological wisdom encapsulates the diverse teachings and philosophies oriented to reducing the negative impact of human civilization on the environment, the biosphere, and the planet, and to finding new ways to cohabitate harmoniously with the living and nonliving entities of the nonhuman world on the planet.
