Environmental Ethics Journal
Environmental philosophy emerged as a formal academic discipline in the 1970s, a result of the environmental movement of the 1960s. Despite this growth, publishing of peer-reviewed articles on environmental philosophy was extremely limited in mainstream philosophy journals. Norwegian deep ecologist Arne Naess provided the most common early forum as editor of his philosophy journal Inquiry. Dr. Eugene C. Hargrove founded the first journal dedicated entirely to the field, Environmental Ethics, in 1978. The full name of the journal is Environmental Ethics: An Interdisciplinary Journal Dedicated to the Philosophical Aspects of Environmental Problems.
