Cornucopian is a label given to individuals who assert that the current environmental problems faced by society either do not exist or can be solved by technology and/or the free market. Cornucopians reject population growth projections and the notion of finite resources and carrying capacity. They also discard arguments for increased government regulation to protect natural resources and the environment. Cornucopians tout capitalism and human intervention as the essential features of human progress. Many arguments in support of the cornucopian position can be traced back to the work of Julian Simon and Herman Kahn.
