National Defense University

The National Defense University (NDU) is a multifaceted Department of Defense institution. NDU is increasingly recognized as a focus for “whole of government” education, and it carries out three missions: primarily education, along with research and outreach. Located at Fort Lesley J. McNair in southwest Washington, D.C., with a second campus in Norfolk, Virginia, and a program in conjunction with Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the university began in 1976.
