Computer-Based Training (CBT)
CBT is an acronym for computer-based training; however, there has been a profusion of acronyms that refer to educational software. Many of them are or have become synonymous with CBT, including:

- Computer-illustrated teaching (CIT)
- Computer-managed instruction (CMI)
- Computer-managed learning (CML)
- Computer and video assisted teaching (CVAT)
- Intelligent computer-aided instruction (ICAI)
CBT amounts to using a computer for training and instruction. Specifically, the student learns by executing a training program, referred to as courseware, on a computer, which typically provides interactive training for specific disciplines.
