Agency Mission
Part of the broader agency strategic management process, that is, the formulation and implementation of a strategic plan. Since the 1993 Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), governmental agencies have been required to develop a five-year strategic plan. An agency's mission statement is based on what the government by law has authorized the agency to do. This mission statement sets out what the agency does and how it does it. The strategic goals that are developed are linked to the agency mission and explain the goals of the agency programs and the results they are expected to bring about.
