Nonviolent criminal offenses that involve deception or concealment of information. White-collar crime is generally associated with members of the higher social classes. The concept of white-collar crime was first developed by the American sociologist Edwin H. Sutherland. Some examples of white-collar offenses include embezzlement, tax evasion, environ mental crimes, and fraud.
