Technical Subsystem

The knowledge required to perform the various tasks used directly and indirectly in the transformation of inputs, such as tools, machines, procedures, methods, and technical knowledge, into outputs, such as manufacturing, accounting, marketing, and research. The type of technical subsystems contained in an organization is a function of the tasks required to perform the transformation processes.

The technical subsystem is mainly concerned with the technical resources needed to produce the product or service. Employees provide the expertise. Those working in the technical subsystem may shape organizational behavior by providing the specialized knowledge that informs policy decisions.
