The error that occurs from observing or studying a sample rather than all members of the population. The inferences made about the population based on the chosen sample contain inaccuracies, so the sample does not accurately reflect the population. Sampling error generally decreases as the size of the sample increases. Using a random sampling method can also minimize sampling error.
