Police Personality
The amalgamation of personality traits that are generally characteristic of police officers. Some of these characteristics include machismo, bravery, authoritarianism, cynicism, suspicion, and aggression. Over the past decades, the changing cultural values and the role of the media have altered the definitions and perceptions of police personalities. The concept of police personality is relevant in the recruitment process to ensure that candidates possess particular traits that are deemed to be crucial in the making of a proficient police officer.
