Crowding and Health
The idea that close living quarters facilitates the spread of disease has long held sway in popular opinion and among public health officials. There are at least two reasons to suspect why crowding might play a role in physical health. First, the probability of contamination from infectious diseases is higher when people are in close physical proximity to other individuals.
