Chapter 3 opened with a story about the gap between American men and women and their affiliation with the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively. Another striking gap that occurs in U.S. politics, as well as in other countries with patriarchal roots, is that women engage in many traditional political acts at lower rates than men.
