Population: 17,244,000 (2020E—World Bank); 15,736,368 (2020—U.S. Census).

Major Urban Center (urban area, 2015E—UN): DAKAR (3,653,000).

Official Language: French.

Monetary Unit: CFA Franc (official rate September 30, 2020: 556.00 francs = $1US). The CFA franc, previously pegged to the French franc, is now permanently pegged to the euro at 655.93 francs = 1 euro.
