Note: On February 1, 2021, the military seized power in Myanmar, deposing the democratically elected president Win Myint and arresting state councilor and popular democracy advocate Aung San Suu Kyi, along with a number of other government officials and members of parliament. A military regime, led by Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, installed vice president Lt. Gen. (ret.) Myint Swe as acting president. The coup was roundly condemned by the international community, and nations such as the United States and New Zealand imposed sanctions on the coup leaders.
