Note: In the annual election on December 7, 2016, Vice President Doris Leuthard (Christian Democratic People’s Party) was elected president of the confederation with 188 of 207 votes. She previously served as president in 2010, and was scheduled to be inaugurated for her new term on January 1, 2017. The next balloting is scheduled for December 7, 2017.
