Barbados

Note: On October 4, 2010, Prime Minister David Thompson, suffering from pancreatic cancer, announced a cabinet reshuffle in which his ministerial responsibilities were reduced. Thompson died on October 23, and he was succeeded by Deputy Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who appointed a largely unchanged cabinet.

Political Status: Independent member of the Commonwealth since November 30, 1966.

Area: 166 sq. mi. (431 sq. km.).

Population: 250, 010 (2000C); 277, 000 (2010E). The 2000 figure does not include an adjustment for underenumeration.
