Note: Algeria has seen scattered protests since December 2010. They are aimed at rising food prices, unemployment, human rights violations, and the autocratic rule of President Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA. Several concessions have been made by Bouteflika’s regime, but clashes between police forces and protesters persist, and demonstrations continue to grow in size and scale.
