Note: Prime Minister Edward Natapei lost a vote of confidence on December 2, 2010, in Parliament, which immediately elected Deputy Prime Minister Sato Kilman, a former leader of the opposition who had joined the Natepei government in late 2009, as the new prime minister. Kilman subsequently reshuffled the cabinet.
Political Status: Formerly the New Hebrides; became the Anglo-French Condominium of the New Hebrides in 1906; present name adopted upon becoming an independent member of the Commonwealth on July 30, 1980.
