Note: On March 12, 2011, Mahamadou ISSOUFOU of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya) was elected president after a second round of balloting. The elections were held following the ousting in February 2010 of former president Mamadou TANDJA by military coup.
