Official Language: Slovene.
Monetary Unit: Euro (market rate December 1, 2009: 1 euro = $1.51US). Slovenia adopted the euro as its official currency on January 1, 2007. Its former currency was the tolar.
President: Danilo TÜRK (nonparty); directly elected in balloting of October 21 and November 11, 2007, and inaugurated for a five-year term on December 22, succeeding Janez DRNOVŠEK (elected as a member of Liberal Democracy of Slovenia).
