Note: On October 21, 2009, Daniyar USENOV (Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan) was appointed prime minister. A wave of anti-government and anti-corruption protests swept the country in early April, 2010. At least 80 people were killed and more than 500 injured. On April 7, Usenov resigned and Roza OTUNBAYEVA (Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan) became acting president of a provisional government. She announced there would be new elections within six months. On April 15 president Kurmanbek BAKIYEV resigned and fled the country (although he later recanted the resignation).
