Established: By the Protocol of Tegucigalpa to the 1962 Charter of the Organization of Central American States, signed December 13, 1991, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, effective February 1, 1993.
Purpose: In furtherance of “the new vision of Central American development,” to serve as a vehicle for coordinating political, social, economic, cultural, and environmental integration.
Headquarters: San Salvador, El Salvador.
Principal Organs: Meeting of Central American Presidents, Council of Ministers, Executive Committee, Consultative Committee, Central American Parliament, Central American Court of Justice, General Secretariat.
