Note: In regularly scheduled direct elections for the National Assembly on July 27, 2008, the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won 90 seats; Sam Rainsy Party, 26; Human Rights Party, 3; Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP), 2; and Funcinpec, 2, according to official preliminary results announced on July 28. The Human Rights Party and the NRP filed a complaint on July 31, but on September 2 the National Election Committee confirmed the results it had announced on July 28 as final. On September 24 the National Assembly, despite a boycott by opposition members, voted to reelect Hun Sen as prime minister. He formed a new government comprised entirely of CPP members on September 25.
