Note: In regularly scheduled general elections on March 11, 2008, the Socialist Workers Party expanded their majority to 169 seats with 43.7 percent of votes, while the opposition Patriotic Party increased its seat share to 153 with 40.1 percent of votes, denying the ruling party an absolute majority. Turnout was 75 percent. Additional congressional results were as follows: Convergence and Union, 11 seats; Basque Nationalist Party, 6; Republican Left of Catalonia, 3; United Left, 2; Galacian Nationalist Bloc, 2; Canarian Coalition, 2; Union, Progress and Democracy, 1; and Navarre Yes, 1. Incumbent Prime Minister José Zapatero was reinstated following a second parliamentary vote on April 11.
