According to early, unofficial results, the Liberal Party (V) won 46 seats; the Social Democratic Party (SD), 45; the Danish People’s Party (DFp), 25; the Socialist People’s Party (SF), 23; the Conservative People’s Party (KF), 18; the New Alliance (a new party), 5; and others, 17.
Political Status: Constitutional monarchy since 1849; under unicameral parliamentary system established in 1953.
Area: 16,629 sq. mi. (43,069 sq. km.).
