After twenty-two months of investigation, on March 22, 2019, Special Counsel Robert Mueller provided the Department of Justice his final report related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible coordination between Russian officials and the campaign of President Donald Trump. The report concluded that, while the Russian government had tried to influence the U.S. election, there was no coordination with the Trump campaign, nor was there enough evidence to establish whether the president attempted to obstruct justice by interfering with the Mueller investigation.
