Since he took office in January 2017, the administration of President Donald Trump has enacted multiple policies aimed at curbing illegal immigration, specifically at the U.S.–Mexico border. In November 2018, the president signed a proclamation that would deny asylum to any migrant entering the United States from Mexico illegally.
