  • The Republican Party is one of two major parties in the United States. As the second oldest currently active political party in the United States (the Democratic Party being the oldest), it has stood for over 150 years as a major player in U.S. politics, electing eighteen U.S. presidents and holding countless offices at all levels of government. Republicans are known for their conservative stance on moral issues and their favorable stances toward business, low taxes, and a strong defense.
