Perot, H. Ross
H. Ross Perot (1930–), after serving in the Navy for eight years, entered business and in 1962 founded his own company. He named it Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and sold it to General Motors in 1984. He then founded a second company, Perot Systems Corporation, in 1988. He ran as an independent candidate for the presidency in 1992 and ran again in 1996 under the banner of the Reform Party, which he had helped create.
Perot was born June 27, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas. He was privately educated and entered the U.S. Naval Academy in 1949. He was made a lieutenant in 1954 and served until 1957. On leaving the Navy, Perot joined IBM as a salesperson. He left IBM in 1962 to found EDS. During ...
