Arab Nationalism
There are various ways to define Arab nationalism and to study political identities in the Arab world. Arab nationalism denotes those political movements that emerged in the nineteenth century and crystallized in the twentieth century, which called for the political unification of the Arabs. The movement went through different phases and acquired many forms over time. But the goal of Arab nationalists has remained unchanged: they seek to break down the twentieth-century borders between Arab states, borders that are seen as the artificial creation of colonialism, and to create an all-encompassing Arab united state.
