    Lakshmi Balachandran Nair is a senior assistant professor in the Methodology and Statistics Department, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She received her PhD from the Institute of Marketing and Communication Management, Università della Svizzera italiana, Switzerland. Her doctoral research combined inputs from methodologically mature disciplines such as political science and criminology to examine three significant universalistic parameters of scholarly impact in management research: originality of the idea, rigor of the study, and clarity of writing. She finished her PhD with summa cum laude in April 2016 and joined Utrecht University as a faculty member. Her primary area of expertise is qualitative research methods. She has published in various journals including Journal of Business Research, Qualitative Research in Psychology, Scientometrics, Journal of Management Inquiry, Forum Qualitative Sozialforschung, Sage Research Methods Cases, and the British Medical Journal (online version). She has co-authored a book, Strategic Novelty: A Definitive Guide to Outlier Strategies (Financial Times Press). Alongside publishing her research, Lakshmi has previously served as editorial review board member for the Journal of Innovation and Knowledge and editorial assistant for a special issue in Industrial Marketing Management. She was a scientific committee member for the 2018 World Conference on Qualitative Research and acts as a reviewer for various journals and publishers, including Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Research, Scientometrics, Industrial Marketing Management, and Sage Publications. At Utrecht University she co-ordinates, restructures, and teaches methodology courses at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD level. She also conducts PhD courses and gives guest lectures at Business schools in the Netherlands and abroad (Switzerland, India, United Kingdom). Moreover, she organizes methodology seminars and conference workshops nationally and internationally (Belgium, United States). She has received grants from the USI Equal Opportunities Service (2014), the Swiss National Foundation (2013, 2015, 2016), and the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (2015). For her work she has received various honors that include the Academy of Management Best Paper Award (2014), Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Emerging Scholar Award (2018), and British Academy of Management Best Full Paper Award (2018).
