Abstract

Edward was all but pacing in the KOOL newsroom. The staff at the California-based TV station was working an unconfirmed active shooting at the local country club on Saturday, July 4—Independence Day in the United States. As the assignment editor, Edward served as the unofficial manager of the weekend crew of one reporter and one cameraman, who were on the scene. Meanwhile, the shift’s lone anchor, producer and editor worked on the newscast, which would end in the next half hour.
