Sustainable Business Operations: A Case Study of Linfox Logistics

Abstract

In this case study, students will be asked to investigate, apply, analyze, and create sustainable business operations. Sustainable business operations mean earning a profit while reducing the negative impacts of business on the environment and people in general. Modern consumers are very concerned about the negative impact of business operations on the environment and society and limit buying products or services associated with unethical or anti-environmental operations. Sustainable business operations are therefore indispensable to maintaining the confidence of customers, employees, and investors in a business. This case study explores the key concepts of sustainable business operations including the three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic. Then, using the example of Linfox Logistics, a global logistics service, students will evaluate, analyze, and create a framework that includes the three pillars of sustainable business operations. Digital technologies supporting the implementation of sustainable business operations will also be considered in the case, which offers insights into how digital technologies support sustainable business operations.
