Abstract
The case centres on the acquisition of the Montres Corum Sàrl, a Swiss manufacture of luxury watches by the Chinese company Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group Limited. The acquisition resulted in the replacement of Corum’s top leadership due to the company’s poor results after the acquisition. There were also a number of fractious interactions between Citychamp and Corum due to the differences in doing business between the East and West, which were exacerbated by the global financial crisis, which resulted in a severe contraction in the luxury watch market.
