Hitachi: Efforts to Preserve Ecosystems

Abstract

The conservation and preservation of the environment has been accorded high priority at global, national and organizational levels and various measures have been taken towards these ends. At the global level, agencies like the United Nations are taking preventative steps to improve the situation. Similarly, various governments have also taken initiatives to decrease the damage being done to the environment. At the micro level, organizations are also adopting environmental strategies as part of larger corporate social responsibility programs to protect the environment, improve their competitive advantage, and benefit their companies. This case highlights how Hitachi has adopted environment-friendly CSR activities as a strategy to protect the environment, to be recognized as a socially responsible organization, and to benefit economically.
