Dara Khosrowshahi: Changing the Company Culture at Uber

Abstract

This case introduces Dara Khosrowshahi, the new CEO of Uber, the San Francisco-based ride-sharing start-up company, and some of the organizational problems he inherited when he succeeded Uber co-founder and former CEO Travis Kalanick. A brief overview of Uber and former CEO Kalanick is given to set the context for the toxic company culture that Kalanick created and established at Uber. Kalanick’s and Khosrowshahi’s leadership are compared and contrasted. The case also presents some challenges and difficulties Khosrowshahi has encountered as he attempts to change the company culture at Uber.
