A Mob Boss, a Garbage Boat and Why We Recycle

Abstract

This case discusses the origins of recycling. The case is focused on a National Public Radio Planet Money podcast that tells the story of a man who attempted to buy garbage off the mob in New York City. This case may be useful as a way to think about recycling through a variety of lenses, including governmental policy and regulation as well as sustainability.
