Advantages of Using the Life Course Framework in Studying Aging
Here we introduce the life course perspective as a framework for an inclusive approach to the study of aging. As we indicated in the Introduction, a life course perspective emphasizes the ways in which people's location in the social system, the historical period in which they live, and their unique personal biography shape their experience of old age. Our approach to the life course perspective has four main premises, which we will explain and illustrate:
