This chapter seeks to bring our discussion of support workers up to date, by placing in it the context of current workforce reform, which is itself an ongoing and unfinished exercise. It is based on two interviews with headteachers in different local education authorities (LEAs), Angela and Barbara (fictitious names), who were seconded to work on workforce remodelling with their LEAs. Angela was on a full-time secondment to implement and manage the remodelling initiative in her LEA. She had had three headships and, in her last one, had brought a school out of special measures.
