Bullying prevention is a total community effort. While it “takes a village to raise a child,” when it comes to bullying prevention and intervention, the peer group is also a major part of the solution. Adults have historically been asleep at the wheel in their responsibilities to address the issue. Let’s be blunt: Adults have been dragged into the solution equation because the courts have ruled that they have liabilities if they ignore the problem when in a supervisory capacity. But adults alone cannot, and should not, be the only ones solely responsible to respond to the problem. We cannot solve the problem of bullying without the contribution of the people most frequently impacted by it—the kids themselves!
